The business of being in business

TAKE OFF

This is the last Live Learnin’ Thursday of 2021. Next week at this time, I’ll have a fresh baby!

This week, I’m talking about the importance of taking time off, and sharing some steps to help you do just that in 2022. In addition, you can bet your sweet bippy I am also sharing how I didn’t take my own advice. Learn from my mistakes, plan to take time off in the year to come, and watch this Learnin’ Thursday for the good, bad, and ugly!

The TLDNW;

  1. Put time on your calendar for rest.
  2. Decide on your non-negotiables. What does “rest” look like for you?
  3. Now, define what needs to happen in order for you to be able to actually live into those non-negotiables. What work needs to be done? What changes need to be made to your existing business model/job description? Who can you ask for help.
  4. Break that list into manageable chunks now, based on what amount of time you have until the time rolls around for you to rest.
  5. NOW ASK FOR HELP

If I could speak to ANYTHING I did well, it was the defining and the chunking.

But I didn’t ask for help as early as I could have. And I didn’t rely on the help I DID receive as early as I could have in order to truly coast to the finish line.

I’m at a hard sprint over here, but we’re going to make it.

For the next 8 weeks, there will be few, if any, updates to the Erica Walter Writes blog while I spend time with Fresh Baby Cinco and figure out what life with 4 kids will be like. However, I’ll be sharing a weekly Email Party all the same, courtesy of the “Ghost of Erica Past” (aka pre-work and scheduling) loaded with knowledge bombs and hot takes and email marketing know-how and greatest hits from the blog that you won’t have to dig through to find.

If you aren’t already a subscriber, I encourage you to enter your email address here, then tune in every Friday morning for the weekly Email Party.

There may just be a live update after I get my head on straight, but I’m making no promises because straight heads aren’t a guarantee I can make at this juncture.

Now, go commit to some rest in 2022. And then come back here and leave a comment to tell me:

When are you taking time to fully rest in the year to come?
