Email Campaign Ideas for May
May 1 – Holy Emails, Batman
No, literally, May 1st is Batman Day.
I mean, I know I probably lost all the serious marketers out there, but I’m not going to apologize. Maybe you didn’t know I live in Adam West’s hometown of Walla Walla, WA. We have a whole Adam West Day celebration. And while your business may not have even an obscure connection to Batman you can tap into, I can’t think of a good excuse not to us “Holy XXX Batman!” in a subject line.
Okay but for SERIOUS now, Erica.

Treat Mom Right: Email Campaign Ideas for Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is May 18th, and everybody wants to be Mom’s favorite! Do you sell products or services that might make a great Mother’s Day gift? Help your subscribers out with a Mother’s Day gift guide (a May email campaign idea for May that can serve you for days and weeks on end). Be sure to send with plenty of time in advance for them to purchase their gift and have it delivered to Mom by the 18th.
If the PEOPLE who make your business run are a key component of your business story, then put the spotlight on the Moms in your business!
Hot Tip: It’s not too early to be thinking Mother’s Day right now. I’ve been getting emails about Mother’s Day gifts since mid-month, as mentioned in the April campaign idea round up.
Email Campaign Ideas for the outdoor adventurer
Memorial Day Weekend is unofficially recognized as the kick-off of camping season. Help your customers plan the perfect Memorial Day Weekend camping trip with an email round-up of products and tips.
Have a Memorial Day Weekend Sale
Many brands take advantage of the first major long weekend of the year to run special offers through their websites and at their physical location. If this sounds like you, spread the word through a dedicated email campaign! You can up the relevance-ante by including products or services you think would appeal to your subscribers based on their preferences (either stated or demonstrated through their past purchase behavior).
But don’t forget what Memorial Day is really all about
Memorial Day is an opportunity to reflect, remember, and honor those who died serving in our country’s armed forces. For some customers and subscribers, a major sale on Memorial Day Weekend will be off-putting and insensitive, so remember to do a real gut-check on what would resonate most for your customers.
And in general
Man! May is awesome, right? Backyard BBQs are starting to fire up. You may be making some plans for a few graduation parties. Wedding season starts to pick up!
You can be proactive and tee up some programming for June while you’re noodling on this too. School’s out for the summer. Father’s Day is right around the corner. Dads and Grads prep? You’re welcome.
Summin’ it up
The month of May is full of relevant opportunities to connect with your customers. It’s also full of fun, playful, and whimsical days and dates that just might delight your subscribers as well. What are some of your favorite email campaign ideas for May? Share them in the comments below!
