Grow Your List With The Right Subscribers

Are you wanting to grow your business in 2023? Then you need to grow your email list.

I’ll confess, I have owned my own business for nearly five years; one of the first things I did when I got started was I set up my free MailChimp account and started getting email addresses from people who visited my blog, heard me speak, or met me in person at an event. But I didn’t invest heavily in list growth activities, really, until this year.

I can make all kinds of excuses, the biggest and perhaps most valid of which is that I was so busy growing my clients’ email lists that I didn’t make the time to focus on growing my own. It doesn’t matter – excuses are valid, so what?

The actual act of growing my email list is one of the most important business activities I do.

I have to make sure I’ve created a compelling value statement.

I have to make sure it sounds like a REALLY great idea to be on my email list.

I have to be sure it is easy to get on the list!

I have to constantly evaluate whether what I’m sending actually aligns with what I’ve promised my subscribers.

I’m more aligned with my business mission than ever before, because I’m regularly working to attract the right kinds of customers who will benefit from what I offer.

The average email list churns at about 30%… meaning if you have 1000 subscribers on your email list today, 300 of them won’t be receiving your emails a year from now either due to bounces or unsubscribes, or because they simply stop opening. To grow your business, you have to outpace that 30% churn by focusing on email list growth activities and strategies at every customer touchpoint.

The stakes are higher than ever. Online sales have started to level out. People are not quite so willing to give away their contact information and they’re even less excited to pull out their credit cards when the time comes to buy.

Different businesses grow their lists in different ways. I’ve worked with large wine brands to grow their email lists and I’ve worked with solopreneurs to grow their email lists and I’ve worked on growing my own email list. At the end of the day, the strategies for all of these are the same, and in our session of The Get Email Marketing Experience on May 10, I shared everything small businesses need to know to help grow their email list.

In this action-packed, one hour training, I walked step-by-step through the strategies we use at Erica Walter Writes to help our clients and students get amazing list growth results. This was a true masterclass in having the right kinds of customers on your email list, excited to hear from you and waiting for your next offer!

Here’s what we covered:
